To support our goals of providing lifelong learning opportunities, the Library District offers public access to new and exciting technology. See our 3D Printing Policy for our complete rules about 3D printer use.
Getting Started
- Find and download digital designs online through file-sharing databases like Thingiverse.
- Use TinkerCad or similar online software to create your own design. Note: Creating a new design requires training. Check out LinkedIn Learning for classes on Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and 3d Modeling. All you need is your library card for FREE access!
Request a 3D Print
There are two ways to submit a design for printing:
- Use our 3D Print Request Form
- Email a file in .stl or .obj file format (10MB or less in size) to 3Dprint@jclibrary.info. Please include your first and last name, contact information, and pick-up location in the body of your email. Printed items may be picked up at the Library in Port Hadlock, WA, or at any Bookmobile stop.
Please Note
- Each patron may have one (1) request in the print queue at a time.
- Staff review files to make sure all objects fit on the 3D printer's build plate. We cannot accept objects that take longer than 8 hours to print.
- Wait times for 3D printing may be longer when demand is high. Our 3D Printing team will email or call you when your print job is finished.
Please note that procedures governing the use of the Library’s 3D printers are subject to change.
