Come learn how to get started with harvesting vegetables all months of the year. Timing your plantings and choosing seasonal varieties that will flourish are key to winter gardening; we'll focus on tips for weather spikes-and-dips and ways to make space for those winter and early spring crops. Nita will share ideas and resources to get you started and keep you on track. July is “second spring” in Jefferson County and the time to sow several crops that you could be harvesting this coming winter and into early spring 2027.
Biography
Nita Wester was born into an organic gardening family and continues to eat vegetables she’s grown in her home garden. After retiring from teaching in local K-12 schools, she became part of the teaching team for Jefferson County’s WSU Extension Master Gardener Growing Groceries class. For 12 years now, she has enjoyed trying out gardening techniques in her own winter garden, learning about growing food year around and exchanging success and failure stories with other local backyard gardeners.
Brought to you by the Washington State University Extension volunteer program.
