With the retirement of a term-limited Trustee, the Jefferson County Library District is seeking a new member to join its five-member Board. This opportunity gives community members a chance to help shape library services for the more than 22,000 people who live within our service area. Trustees are appointed by the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners for 5-year unpaid terms.
A Library Trustees are responsible for the following:
- Approval and oversight of annual Library budget
- Hiring and supervision of Library Director
- Advocating for the Library throughout the community
- Setting Library’s mission and strategic plan
- Measuring the success of strategic plan objectives
- Manage the library staff or day-to-day operations
- Create library programing
- Government finance and budgeting
- Strategic planning
- Fund raising or levy measures
- Public advocacy
