Lisa H. Brandes

Lisa and her husband, Richard Brandes, have been happy residents of Marrowstone Island since 2016, where they enjoy its natural beauty and close-knit island camaraderie.

Lisa’s work life has been varied but always focused on information and learning.  She started her career leading history museums in San Francisco, Honolulu, and New Jersey.  After a stint in government relations for an education technology venture, she started her own company providing management services to national and regional education associations.  For 25 years, the company provided staffing to handle member management, website and technology development, meeting and conference planning, and publication services to a range of organizations focused on the needs of underserved populations, primarily in the K-12 environment.  She has served on governing and advisory boards for local, national, and international foundations.

Lisa is a voracious reader (always with at least one e-book on loan from the Library) and an active member of the Biblio Babes Book Club.  Her other interests include travel, cooking, word and number puzzles, boating, grandkid time, and taking walks with her dog, Rosie.  She is currently exploring a new enthusiasm for loom weaving.
