Farewell and Thank You to Dr. Tamara Rotz

The Board of Trustees of the Jefferson County Rural Library District thanks Dr. Tamara Rotz for her seven years of service as the Library Director and congratulates her on her new position as the Peninsula College eLearning Administrator, beginning in January 2025.  Under her leadership and the efforts of a dedicated staff, the library has flourished. She managed changes needed due to the pandemic.  She swiftly implemented a remote work model which ensured the continued employment of the library staff.  She moved to predominately online services for library patrons throughout the pandemic.  She also met the many smaller challenges that involved frequently unexpected facility maintenance issues.

While Dr. Rotz’ accomplishments are too numerous to list, some stand out:  Working with the Board, she streamlined the accounting, administrative, payroll, and financial services.  This facilitated growth of the library’s financial reserves.  She and her staff elevated community engagement outside the library.  She worked with a contractor on a Community Needs Assessment enhancing the presence of the library within the community.  She preserved and expanded the consortium of libraries (CLEO).  She oversaw the construction of the Hagen Building which provides a garage for the Bookmobile and additional space for the Friends of the Library.  She improved the library’s meeting rooms with up-to-date AV equipment.  She initiated efforts to improve energy efficiency with an energy audit of the library.  She oversaw improvement of the library’s digital sign and website.  And finally, she cultivated a staff that has brought robust and excellent materials and programs to library patrons while maintaining a welcoming and compassionate environment.

We wish Dr. Rotz the very best in her new endeavor.
