Interfaith Amigos Spiritual Read

Jan 3 Interfaith AmigosTuesdays at 6:30 pm
January 3 - February 28, 2017

Beginning weekly in January, join us as we read Finding Peace through Spiritual Practice, the latest book by Rabbi Ted Falcon (Jewish), Pastor Don MacKenzie (Christian) and Imam Jamal Rahman (Islamic), known as the Interfaith Amigos. Reflect and discuss with this facilitator led group as they look at the specific issues we face in a pluralistic society and the spiritual practices that can help us transcend those roadblocks to effective collaboration on the critical issues of our time.

This Ten-Week Spiritual Read is not a ‘feel good’ book club, but rather a widespread shared experience which will kindle authentic connection and meaningful collaboration toward activism. If you cannot attend all ten weeks, come to as many meetings as you can.

The Spiritual Read will close with a participative Celebration of Our Journey on Sunday, March 5, 2:00 - 4:00 pm, at Unity Spiritual Enrichment Center across from Blue Heron School in Port Townsend. The Poetic Justice Theatre Ensemble will dramatize personal responses to justice and environmental actions raised in the book. Interfaith minister Simon de Voil will provide music. All participants are welcome!

Imam Jamal Rahman, Rabbi Ted Falcon, and Pastor Don Mackenzie became known as the Interfaith Amigos after 9/11 through their innovative approaches to interfaith dialogue.

They discovered shared basic beliefs in the same God and unity in the three Abrahamic faiths.  They coalesced as the Interfaith Amigos to offer spiritual wisdom, humor and hope to overcome sectarian conflict and violence.

The Interfaith Amigos present across the U.S., and globally in Canada, Japan and Israel-Palestine.  They speak to spiritual communities, colleges, conferences and world religious organizations.  They also have done TEDx talks; their own radio show; and interviews with many media outlets, including The New York Times, CBS and BBC news.
